I have doubt I was taught that Kita is played with Tha then Thi. because 3 of my masters thought me this when I was young and now when I want to reignite my passion I experience a problem. Please guide me.
ReplyDeleteTha is played on the Thoppi (big head) while Thi is played on the small head. Ki is the same as playing Thi. Ta is played as Thi on the small head too but with the index finger. Kita would be 2 strokes in succession both played on the small head as described. Watch this video and observe the basic strokes - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBcmgRofmtQ
DeleteMridangam syllables are played differently in different parts of South India. I feel that syllables such as KiTa ThaKa ThaRi KiTa DhiKu etc should be played in the same way wherever they are encountered in the lessons.
